About Us
Hola y bienvenidos! Hello and welcome from Aviatur... your local connection to Gorgona National Natural Park, Colombia! We know all about this little Colombian island isolated in the Pacific Ocean and we want to share our knowledge with you. Our forests have been cut off from the main continent for thousands of years and this has created an exceptionally diverse environment, filled with interesting animals like the Blue Lizard of Gorgona that can only be seen here! We invite you to explore our remarkable shores in this snorkeling paradise and take a tour to see the majestic humpback whales on their annual visit. This is truly a wildlife enthusiast's haven and we are ready and willing to help you reach this unspoiled destination.
Until 1984 this island was solely utilized as a prison, then the unique natural riches were realized and it became a national park. As of October 2004, the national government of Colombia ordered the opening of an international bid for organizations seeking to establish ecotourism services and improve the staffing, maintenance, rehabilitation, and enhancement of the physical infrastructure in Amacayacu, Tayrona, Gorgona and Los Nevadors Natural National Parks. The Aviatur group, through the establishment of the Temporary Unions project, received access to these four national parks. These natural national parks are special because they are areas seeking to develop their ecotourism services in remote ecosystems that have not been altered by human exploitation. The unique plants, complex geomorphologic animals and intricate bionetworks deserve to be preserved, and this begins with responsible management systems. We began our operations on the island in November of 2005.
Aviatur manages many of the most important national parks in Colombia and we can easily assist you in reaching this remote location. The Aviatur Group employs over 3.300 people in 298 and it is represented in Quito, Ecuador; Caracas, Venezuela; Havana, Cuba; Panama City, Panama; Paris, France; and Miami, USA where an office of Aviatur Cargo Logistics operates.
We are more than willing to organize a flight, boat transfers and beautiful accommodations in this tropical paradise. There is a reason we were chosen to handle many significant national parks throughout Colombia, and that is because of our dedication to sustaining these natural treasures. We work to preserve this island in its current condition, while also allowing people to learn and be influenced by its pristine beauty. Our mission is to minimise any negative impact tourism may cause and to strengthen awareness in people that are not local to this environment. We have worked to improve the infrastructure for the accommodations, restaurants and access areas in the park to better meet our clients' needs. The telecommunications means have also been enhanced, along with the waste disposal processes and water conservation management.
"To obtain customer satisfaction by providing products and services tailored to their needs, striving to exceed their expectations" Aviatur company policy
